Dr. Joseph Insler, M.D.
Dr. Insler is a board certified psychiatrist with significant experience treating mood, anxiety disorders, trauma, and substance use disorders. He received his board certification in psychiatry in 2014 and his addiction psychiatry board certification in 2016.
Dr. Insler graduated from Emory University in 2006 with a BA in psychology, and then attended Tulane University School of Medicine where he received his MD in 2010 and was selected by his peers to receive the Gold Humanism Honor Society Award. He completed his psychiatry residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital (Mount Sinai) in 2014, and then went on to complete a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at Boston University Medical School in 2015.
Dr. Insler previously worked as a psychiatry attending at the VA Boston Healthcare System where he treated veterans with mental health and substance use disorders. He additionally held many managerial and administrative roles while working at the VA including serving as the medical review officer, and providing ongoing supervision and teaching for residents in training. Dr. Insler has given numerous lectures and presentations, and was selected by the Harvard South Shore residency class as teacher of the year in 2017.
